Update sought on M4 Bus Corridor

Clane-Maynooth Municipal District Meeting, Friday, 2 May 2025

ree

Councillor Pádraig McEvoy

Question

Can the council update the committee on the estimated timeline for completing the first phase (Junction 5 to 6) of the eastbound bus corridor on the M4?

Agenda Report

The project has a speed limit order until 31 August 2025. The contractor has indicated that the speed limit order is required to facilitate the pavement works and completion of the civil works. The contractor is aiming to have all the pavement and civil works completed no later than the end of the summer. The Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) works may be completed in tandem or will follow e.g. electronic gantry signage. However, the ITS works will be less intrusive and should not require the varioguard and/or speed limit order. The contractor must wait until after the bird breeding and nesting season before commencing installation of noise barriers to safeguard nesting birds and other wildlife..

Issued by: Ms. M Whelan, Senior Engineer, National Roads Office.
