Question:

Can the council update the committee on scheduling the Area-Based Transport Assessment for Clane?

Report:

Kildare County Council Transport, Mobility and Open Spaces Department work closely with the Forward Planning Team to develop Local Transport Plans in line with the Local Area Plan work programme. A Local Transport Plan for Maynooth was published earlier this year, and we are currently working on one for Newbridge. The next Local Transport Plan to be developed will be for the towns of Celbridge and Leixlip. There is currently no timeline for a Local Transport Plan for Clane.

The members considered the following question in the name of Councillor McEvoy.

Can the council update the committee on scheduling the Area-Based Transport Assessment for Clane?

A report was received informing the members Kildare County Council Transport, Mobility and Open Spaces Department work closely with the Forward Planning Team to develop Local Transport Plans in line with the Local Area Plan work programme. A Local Transport Plan for Maynooth was published earlier this year and we are currently working on one for Newbridge. The next Local Transport Plan to be developed will be for the towns of Celbridge and Leixlip. There is currently no timeline for a Local Transport Plan for Clane.

Councillor McEvoy stated that the impact of the town and the growth of the district meant there were huge volumes of traffic in Clane. The Tesco roundabout and the junction would be the most heavily trafficked. The Transport Strategy was outdated and there was no timeline to review this.

The report was noted.
