Motion:


That the council summarises progress on implementing traffic calming measures to improve active travel opportunities at schools in the Clane-Maynooth Municipal District and outlines options for a five-year strategy to resource additional measures for the remaining works needed.


Report:


Kildare County Council Sustainable Transport Section are progressing delivery plans, as part of the Safe Routes to School Programme within the Clane -Maynooth Municipal District, which include a Park and Stride proposal for the school at New Road/The Glebe, Straffan. It also includes a Park and Stride and permeability access proposals, from the Ballinagappa Road to the Prosperous Road, for the schools at Prosperous Road, Clane.

Debate:


With a five-year term ahead, the committee discussed developing a strategic multi-annual approach to using limited local funds to complement the national grant income available for larger projects.
